What is the procedure to rent any property in spain? Do we have to pay any deposit, and what docs they need?

Me and my wife are planning to move to spain next year. I was looking online to see how much is it to rent properties and the figures look good. I was wondering if anyone knew what is the exact procedure to rent a property in spain and what all is needed from the tenants.
Thanks

At the moment the property market in Spain is very depressed and because properties are not selling, the owners are instead renting them out – this has resulted in their being a lot of rental properties out there at the moment, so you may be able to find a bargain.
There are 2 types of contract – Short term and long term , and whatever you decide I would insist on a fully legal contract – and also insist on the deposit that you pay being held in escrow by a 3rd party ( like a lawyer ) you can read more about the exact procedure by going to ]

Looks like you have your answer.
Be sure that you check out the true owner of the property. Or go to reputable real estate co. In spain.
My brother used to live in Nerja, Spain and they have everything there from small apartments to large detached villas. I can’t remember how much but if my memory serves me right it costs him roughly around £200 to £400 per month. Good luck!
