rent property

Im looking to rent a property from a proposed Landlord, i have unsatisfied debts which i am currently paying off monthly and he is saying that the Estate Agents with which the property is up for rent with are saying about my credit history, im on a debt management plan but he has already promised that he will rent the property to me. My mother is acting as Guarantor, what can i do to definatley secure the property without my past “messes up” affecting it
