If you live in the UK and are renting from a local authority or housing association there wont be a problem. If youre looking at private rented then they will probably do a credit check. They may not let your husband sign the lease until after he is discharged (a max of 12 months) but the simple answer - you be the sole tenant.

I am a landlord and I assume all my tenants have bad credit, therefore, I do not even check credit. I do check references and charge a larger deposit than some. It is more important to me that my tenants are clean and take care of my property than have good credit. So yes, you can rent. Larger organizations will check your credit and charge you a large deposit. If you hurry before the bankruptcy hits your credit, you will be better off.

Of course you can rent! Where else would you live? Just because you filed for bankruptcy doesn't mean your going to live out on the street...I live in Chicago and most landlords do not do credit checks unless your moving into a very expensive downtown building...My best friend has horrible credit she rents a 3 bedroom apartment...As long as you pay monthly for rent there will not be any problems

Yes, but you will be screwed off with prepayment / security deposit fees. The landlord may also want additional rent.

If you can, rent the apartment *before* declaering bankruptcy.
Otherwise, given that you are technically bankrupt and there are huge amount of upfront fees, I would plan on living with friends for at least a few months.

yes . you may need to give a deposit for a month in advance in the private sector, if you go to your local housing association they can advise you about social housing or hostel accommodation if you are being evicted because of foreclosure/repossession (in the Uk) also the local council might be able to help

IN Australia - NO, the person who has declared bankruptcy can not sign a lease for, I think 7 years. There are many restrictions. Bankruptcy pretty much declares you incompetent financially and legally.

you'll find things would go allot easier if the the rent was to come from your account, but otherwise it would be at the landlords discretion

Naar mijn mening…
Eerlijk. I wouldn' t.
Alvorens u iets anders vindt, zou u uit uw schuld moeten krijgen zodat draagt u dat op uw schouders voor de rest van uw leven niet.
& niemand zal aan u huren als u de kerels slecht krediet hebben

yes, you can rent a property while being bankrupt. where else would you live? You may have a hard time finding a place to rent if the landlord does a credit check and sees that your husband filed bankruptcy but yes, you can rent a place to live.

Yes you can they may do a credit check but you should still be able to rent. I would suggest trying to rent the property before he files for bankruptcy
