I had paid my rent well in advance and we got permission from our landlord in writting that we could terminate our agreement early as they were selling and that they would refund us our advance rental (about 3 weeks worth). Once we had moved out they advised us they had changed their mind. The CTTT can not help as there is nothing in the Residential Act referring to advance rental payments and they will not rule on something that has not got a legislation.

During the last year of my two year rent, I was concentrating too much much on running a business that I lost track, and even though the back rent slowly amounted to the bond deposit the landlord only brought this up when the rent was nearly up. He ended up keeping the bond deposit. Surely he should have brought up the question of the back rent amounting more than £1,500 earlier? I own some houses in Mexico and rent them out. I keep most of the proceeds from these houses in Mexican banks. when I travel to Mexico I almost exclusively use fund from these accounts.

Do I really have to pay the USA income tax on the whole amount or just what I bring to the USA? Is there any way to exclude this income from US income tax?

If I have to include ALL the income, do I treat the property as if it were in the USA (depreciation, repairs, travel, etc)?
