Hi, I have some investment capital but I want to purchase a 4 unit building and convert it to a disability accessable apartments with low income rent affordability. Can I get a grant to pay for any of purchase of the property and the renovations that would be necessary to provide this kind of housing. I am disabled and want to live in one of the units.

Has anyone done something like this? Can something like this be done? What are all the angles. Any info is greatly appreciated!

My cost of the rental house after renovation is $100k. I can rent it for $850/mo (roughly 8% return after property taxes/ins.) or I can sell it for $150K (and pay around 25% income taxes) or I can take an equity loan for part of the value, get some income and buy the next rough diamond. Ideas?

my husband recently brought a home in dc and I already owned a home in upper marlboro maryland (about 30 miles away). my house is bigger, but his is more convienent (our kids go to school in dc and most of our family is in the city) anyway, we decided to rent my house out. I had some renovations done to it and it’s nicer than it was at first.

anyway, me and him have been in a debate for a few days because i dont even want to consider renting to a section 8 or HCVP certificate holder…… and he does. He’s stuck on the fact that it’s guarnteed money every month…. on time. But im more concerned with making sure my property is taken care of. It’s a really nice neighborhood…. and alot of people have given section 8 a bad rep. I really dont wanna end up with the wrong element in my home and they tear it apart. But its like all he’s worried about is getting that money on time each month.

which would mean more to you? the cash or making sure your home was well taken care of

I have bought a large property in Brittany which needs renovation. I would like to use Local “Rose Granite” but cannot find a supplier.
I would use it for window sills, kitchen worktops, fireplace hearths etc.
Does anyone know if it would be practical to buy a block and cut it myself?. The cost of Custom made stuff is astronomical. Does anyone have any experience? I suppose I’d need a granite saw and a planer. How are these sink units made?

My friend had her 1940s house renovated in the summer of 1999, would the builders who done the work have known if there was asbestos in the property before doing the work. This is something I’ve always wondered if builders are gutting an old house and asbestos is known to be in old wall plaster, flooring, boilers etc, how do the builders know if the old plaster etc that they are ripping out contain asbestos or not, or do they do tests first. I live in the Uk.
